At around 5:58 p.m., the Windsor Fire Department arrived at 489 Ridge Road, and found that the home had been seriously damaged due to the severity of the blaze, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
As firefighters worked their way through the house, they found the body of a woman who firefighters believe got trapped inside the burning house. Officials believe that the woman is Lorraine Knox, who lived at the residence. Her body will be autopsied by the state medical examiner to positively identify the woman.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, although officials said that Knox had been using electric heaters because the furnace was not functioning properly.
