A 25-year-old Dixmont man was arrested after allegedly firing a gun recklessly and assaulting multiple people Friday night, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to Masonic Road at about 9:15 p.m. after the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a report of a man who was out of control and firing a gun.
Deputies detained Caleb Springer of Dixmont at the scene.
Following an investigation, deputies identified three victims, all friends or family members of Springer. Authorities said the incident involved multiple crime scenes in the area.
One victim was shot at while seated inside a vehicle, and others were injured after being struck with a bat, officials said.
Springer was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail. He was charged with attempted murder, aggravated reckless conduct and aggravated assault. Additional charges are expected, according to the sheriff’s office.
