President Donald Trump is unlikely to become less violent or destructive or more coherent.
Figuring this out, a few House Republicans may find that genuflecting to a failing and flailing Trump is not smart. They may resign. That would cut the thin thread protecting the speaker of the U.S. House and put Democrats in charge.
This is only a pious hope.
