Penobscot County leaders may ignore the committee’s decision to cut $1 million from the upcoming budget. The county’s proposed 2026 budget spiked from the previous year, mainly due to a $3.5 million shortfall as of the beginning of the year.

An independent study has found that Bangor should raise its bus fares. The recommendation comes during a time when the city is considering cutting services.
