A dog died in a weekend house fire in Lewiston.

The fire broke out at the Grove Street home about 8:46 p.m. Saturday, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found heavy flames on the first floor of the two-story, single-family, wood-frame home, Moss said Sunday evening.

A dog died in the fire, while no people were injured.

The fire remains under investigation, with the Maine fire marshal’s office working to determine its cause and origin.
