Two men allegedly set an Augusta home ablaze last month.
Samuel Howard, 27, of Pittston and Trevor Shorette, 32, of Augusta have both been charged with arson and violating their conditions of release, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The duo allegedly set fire to a Lilac Lane home about 5:16 a.m. on Nov. 15. A neighbor awoke several people inside at the time, allowing the fire to be quickly extinguished and all to avoid injury, Moss said Tuesday evening.
The Maine fire marshal’s office determined the fire was intentionally set.
Howard, who had five sets of bail conditions, was arrested on Nov. 18, while Shorette, who had two sets of bail conditions, was arrested Tuesday, Moss said.
Both men are being held at the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta on $10,000 bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
