An alleged Florida kidnapper was arrested in Maine over the weekend.

Derek Pearson, 41, was wanted in the Sunshine State for a probation violation stemming from a kidnapping charge, according to Oxford County Sheriff Christopher Wainwright.

Deputies learned about 7:30 a.m. Saturday that Pearson was staying in a Brock School Road home in Buckfield, Wainwright said Sunday.

After negotiations, Pearson surrendered without incident.

Pearson, who is originally from Maine, was living in Daytona Beach in 2023 when he and a woman threatened to kill a man in front of their child, according to Florida NBC affiliate WESH.

Pearson had befriended the man allegedly to get drugs two days before Pearson and the woman burst into the modified school bus, where the man was living, with what the victim initially thought was a large caliber revolver and a stun gun.

Pearson was taken to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris, where he is being held as a fugitive from justice and awaits extradition.
