A Corinth man accused of killing his mother appeared in court for the first time Monday afternoon.

Daniel Derosier, 22, is charged with intentional or knowing murder in Penobscot County Superior Court. He allegedly shot his mother, Abigail Thomas, 41, around 8:28 a.m. Saturday, at their home in Village Green Trailer Park, according to Maine State Police.

Derosier, who had a cut across his right eye when he appeared via video chat, did not enter a plea, which is standard for felony cases. It will be presented to a grand jury that will decide whether or not to indict him.

Thomas and Derosier had an argument in their home that escalated, state police said.

Derosier was not granted bail and is held in the Penobscot County Jail.

He is not allowed contact with a juvenile and an adult man who are alleged witnesses to the homicide. He is also not allowed contact with Thomas’ mother, his grandmother, at her request.

No future court dates are scheduled.
