PORTLAND — Mayo Street Arts is pleased to present Nappy’s Puppets’ Father Goose’s Tales on Saturday, Jan. 3 from 2-3 p.m., with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. This 45-minute, all-ages performance brings families together for an afternoon of imaginative shadow theater, humor and classic storytelling with a modern twist. Tickets are available in advance for $15 for adults and $10 for children 13 and under, or $18 and $13 at the door, with $25 preferred seating and pay-what-you-can options available to ensure accessibility for all.
In Father Goose’s Tales, trouble brews in the nursery when Mother Goose takes the day off, leaving Father Goose to manage her chores-including the all-important storytelling. Despite his best efforts, Father Goose can’t quite get the stories right, leading to playful mishaps and unexpected twists on familiar nursery rhymes, children’s songs, and beloved tales. The result is a lively and engaging performance that delights children while keeping adults entertained.
Nappy’s Puppets is dedicated to producing high-quality shadow theater that both entertains and educates, highlighting the richness and versatility of puppetry as an art form. Through live performances rooted in children’s literature, traditional and modern music and folk tales from around the world, the company creates engaging theater that encourages audience participation and reinforces the joy of shared storytelling. Father Goose’s Tales continues this tradition, offering a warm, whimsical experience for the entire family.
