Pratt

CASCO — Hancock Lumber is pleased to welcome Curtis Pratt to Team Hancock in a  newly created safety director role, reinforcing the company’s long-standing belief that safety is not just a program — it  is a shared responsibility and a way of life. In this role, Pratt will lead Hancock Lumber’s safety team and oversee  safety programs company-wide, working in close partnership with team members across all locations. His focus will  include strengthening systems, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with regulatory  standards — while always keeping people at the center of the work.

Pratt brings more than 15 years of experience in safety and health leadership across a wide range of industries,  including construction, shipbuilding, defense, energy production and manufacturing. His background also includes  experience in the insurance industry, providing him with a strong perspective on risk management, prevention and  long-term sustainability. Since joining Hancock Lumber in late September, Pratt has been intentionally spending  time listening and learning, traveling to Hancock’s locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire and  Massachusetts to connect with team members and better understand how safety lives on the ground each day.

In his own words, Pratt shared what drew him to Hancock Lumber, “Throughout the past 15+ years of my career, the most rewarding aspect has been the opportunity to engage with  people — to better understand their perspectives, appreciate their skills, and work together to make work a safer  place. In fact, that is exactly what drew me to Hancock Lumber. The mission aligns perfectly with the safety culture  necessary for creating meaningful impacts, where we recognize employees as human beings and seek to improve  the lives of everyone who works here at Hancock. When you pair that mindset with the principle of shared leadership, it allows for the creation of a very special and unique culture in which every individual has a voice and can be  empowered to take an active role in keeping themselves and their teammates safe.”

“At Hancock Lumber, safety begins with genuinely caring for people, listening to one another, and sharing  responsibility across the organization,” said Hillary Roy, chief people officer at Hancock Lumber. “Curtis brings both  deep technical expertise and a genuine respect for people to this role. His approach aligns perfectly with our belief  that the safest workplaces are built through trust, engagement, and shared leadership. We are excited to have Curtis helping us strengthen our culture where every team member feels empowered to speak up, look out for one another, and go home safe every day.”

A Maine resident for nearly three decades, Curtis graduated from the University of Southern Maine and began his  career in safety through hands-on experience with commercial electrical and utility projects. He has since led safety  initiatives on complex civil and mechanical projects across multiple industries. Outside of work, Pratt enjoys life in  Southern Maine with his wife and two children, spending free time at sporting events, hiking, camping and exploring.

Please join us in welcoming Pratt to Team Hancock as we continue to strengthen our commitment to safety and  well-being — our number one core value and the foundation of everything we do.
