It’s the time of year, when caring, giving and understanding, define the season. We choose to see the good in our neighbors and put our differences aside. We see everyday people handing

out food to the underprivileged, and collecting toys for kids otherwise forgotten. It is who we are as Americans. It’s how millions visualize the holidays, and celebrate goodness.

But while we choose kindness and generosity, our president and his enablers often choose hate and fear. It’s long been apparent to me that President Donald Trump seems to hate Muslims, Mexicans and Hispanics in general. But now, for the holidays, he’s included Somalis.

If only one person from any of these groups commits a crime, they are all bad in the president’s eyes. The truth is, they are hard workers, and in many cases, take the kind of jobs most of us don’t want. Our president calls them “garbage.”

Well Mr. President, if you really want to define trash, look at who you’ve pardoned. Start with the Jan. 6 mob who destroyed Capitol property and injured Capitol Police. The group Trump encouraged to attack the Capitol, and threaten the lives of our representatives.

Or how about the ex-Honduran leader he recently pardoned, found guilty of helping to import 400 tons of cocaine into our country. Why not start there? Or Better still, Mr. President, just look in the mirror.
