The Renys store in downtown Portland closed its doors for good a day earlier than originally planned.
The retail chain posted on Facebook that the Congress Street location closed Tuesday instead of New Year’s Eve.
The company cited illness and staff shortages as the reason for shutting down the store a day early.
The company told the Portland Press Herald over the summer it was closing because sales have not rebounded since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Renys thanked customers for their support for the past 15 years at the Congress Street location.
