A UMaine alum and Maine-native was up for a big award.

The University of Maine posted on its Facebook page that Timothy Simons was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the Critics’ Choice Awards.

According to UMaine, Simons earned the nomination for his role as Sasha on the Netflix show “Nobody Wants This.” You may also know him from “Veep” on HBO.

Simons is from Readfield and studied theater at UMaine.

He said one of the great things about UMaine is the skills he learned there, both off and on the set, that helped him find work throughout his career.

Actor and comedian Seth Rogan went home with the award for the show “The Studio.”
