A missing West Paris man has been found.

Stephen Bies, 73, wandered away from his Stearns Hill Road home about 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to Mark Latti, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

He was reported missing, and rescuers quickly began searching for Bies, who has cognitive issues.

As temperatures fell into the single digits, Maine Game Warden Lucas Bellanceau and his canine partner Lucy found Bies about a half-mile behind his home about 6:30 p.m., Latti said Tuesday morning.

Bies was taken to MaineHealth Stephens Hospital in Norway, where he was evaluated and treated for hypothermia.
