Friday is the last day of business for the Prospect Country Store, but its owners plan to open a cafe and bakery in Winterport next month.

The new spot, The Rolling Pin Cafe & Bakery, will serve breakfast and lunch, offering sit-down service and grab-and-go items, owner Jarrett Norris said. It will be located at 145 Main St., which was most recently home to Selah gallery and before that, Tea Maineia.

“Everyone we’ve heard from wants a sit-down breakfast place and a good lunch place,” said Norris. “Everyone in Winterport has been super, super welcoming.”

The country store opened just more than two years ago. After a period of tensions over maintenance and lease negotiations, his landlord issued a 30-day notice to vacate the space, Norris said.

Norris called the experience “bittersweet” but said he is excited to be starting fresh. “Our new landlord is incredible,” he said. “He wants to see a thriving business.”
