A fire destroyed a workshop at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray.
An employee who lives at the park heard an explosion and discovered a fire had broken out in the building about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Mark Latti, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Crews fought through the night to extinguish the blaze and keep flames from spreading to other buildings, Latti said Friday morning.
The workshop, which was located in older buildings behind the park, was used to store tools and equipment and as a place for staff to work on infrastructure and maintenance projects, according to Latti.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known, and the Maine fire marshal’s office is investigating.
Latti said no people or animals were hurt in the fire.
