A 49-year-old Fairfield man was seriously injured Friday afternoon after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Main Street, police said.
Fairfield police and Fairfield-Benton Emergency Services were called to the area near the post office at about 4:38 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.
Investigators said Dana Dodge was crossing Main Street outside of a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Sean McGlaughlin, 39, of Fairfield.
Dodge was taken by Delta Ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center and later transferred to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. McGlaughlin was not injured.
Maine State Police are reconstructing the crash. Police said speed and impairment are not believed to be factors, and no charges have been filed.
