Mainers looking to head out West this summer won’t have to go as far to catch a flight.

Beginning June 27, United Airlines will offer seasonal nonstop flights from Portland International Jetport to Los Angeles and San Francisco, according to Zachary Sundquist, the airport’s assistant director.

That service will be offered on Saturdays.

“This level of connectivity is truly remarkable and we are grateful for United’s continued investment in the Portland market,” Paul Bradbury, the airport’s director, said in a statement.

Mainers can also catch flights out of Portland this summer to other United Airline hubs in Houston, New York City and Newark, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

“The addition of Los Angeles and San Francisco to our route network connects us with two of our top unserved markets and provides incredibly easy access to and from the west coast during our peak tourism season,” Sundquist said.

The Portland airport is the state’s busiest. It saw record traffic in 2024, with 2.4 million passengers, surpassing 2023’s 2.2 million, according to data posted on the Portland International Jetport’s website. During the first 10 months of 2025, the jetport saw nearly 2.3 million passengers, putting it on track to match or exceed 2024’s record.
