ELLSWORTH — The City of Ellsworth, in partnership with Heart of Ellsworth, is excited to announce the launch of a new, centralized Community Events Calendar powered by Yodel, a dynamic platform designed to make it easier than ever to discover what’s happening in Ellsworth.

This new City tool brings together events, activities, and programs from across the community into an easy-to-use event calendar. To better serve the community, Yodel will support two event calendars. The City of Ellsworth calendar highlights events happening across the entire 04605 zip code, while the Heart of Ellsworth calendar showcases activities and happenings in downtown Ellsworth. This approach makes it easier for residents and visitors to choose between a broad view of what’s happening citywide or a more focused look at downtown activities.

From family activities and nonprofit fundraisers to downtown events and local happenings, the goal is simple: if it’s happening in Ellsworth, residents and visitors should be able to find it.

“Ellsworth is a vibrant, active community, and there is always something going on,” said Amy Kenney, director of Communications for the City. “This new tool helps us better share that energy and connect people to the events, organizations, and experiences that make Ellsworth such a great place to live and visit.”

Yodel automatically pulls public events from Facebook Events and from online event calendars hosted on organization websites, allowing community groups, businesses, and nonprofits to easily have their events included without additional steps or submissions.

“After a year of meetings with community nonprofits, Yodel was identified as the solution to a shared need for one central place where residents and visitors can easily find local events. This cohesive, citywide calendar brings together activities from across the community, making it easier to discover what’s happening, reduce duplication, and increase participation in all Ellsworth has to offer,” said Cara Romano, executive director of Heart of Ellsworth.

To be included in the calendars, organizations are encouraged to create Facebook Events for their public activities or maintain an up-to-date event calendar on their website. Events posted through these channels will be automatically populated on Ellsworth’s Yodel event calendars.

The City of Ellsworth and Heart of Ellsworth invite community members to explore the new calendars and encourage event hosts to take advantage of this collaborative tool to increase visibility and participation.
