Why is ICE calling its operation in Maine ” Catch of the Day“?
I think it’s pretty simple, and pretty despicable. The ones they are after are fish, not people. It serves to dehumanize the people they are targeting. It’s a common fascist tactic.
There is, of course, another common saying: Like shooting fish in a barrel. And we’ve seen some of that too.
I keep thinking about the things that led up to the fall of the Roman empire, particularly the gladiators (President Donald Trump’s MMA fixation) and the circuses (the whole administration is a many ringed circus). And our modern day Nero, who looks like a narcissistic megalomaniac fiddling with his ballroom while the country prepares to burn.
