A man suffered an electric shock Wednesday morning while raking snow off the Auburn Senior Community Center’s roof.
The 62-year-old who worked for a local roofing company fell from his ladder at approximately 10:40 am Wednesday. He was treated at the scene by Auburn Rescue but did not lose consciousness, according to the Auburn Police Department.
He had added an extension to a metal rake being used to clear the snow off the senior center, located at 48 Pettengill Park Road. Once the rake made contact with the power line on the roof, the man suffered an electric shock and fell off the ladder, police said.
The worker was hospitalized with severe hand and leg burns.
The Auburn Police Department contacted the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as is protocol, though it is unclear if an investigation is ongoing.
