Mike Dow has been selected a 2026 Maine Terrific Ten Broadcaster in honor of his community service by Spirit of America Foundation’s Maine Chapter.
Dow currently is a host at radio station Star 97.7 (WNSX) in Ellsworth, has been in broadcasting for four decades and has been an active volunteer for several Maine-based organizations.
While at WABK for many years, Dow spent much time helping that radio station’s Love Fund raise money to assist families facing hardship.
He has spent a lot of time volunteering for Bangor Humane Society, helps raise awareness and funds for animal rescue and has participated in the ‘Clear the Shelters’ event.
In November 2024 Dow attempted a 96-hour radio marathon to support 25 Days of Kindness, a charitable initiative in Holden.
Dow serves as a volunteer host for Wreaths Across America Radio, where he hosts the Military Musicians Showcase.
He often serves as an emcee for local community events, such as the Americana Music Festival in Millinocket, and has done even more to help the cause of volunteerism.
