FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington is hosting nearly 20 Maine four-season outdoor recreation industry employers at its upcoming Summit to Shore Career Fest on Wednesday Feb. 11. Designed to connect talented, motivated students and community members with real-world opportunities, the Summit to Shore Career Fest provides a direct pipeline for employers seeking interns, seasonal employees and long-term hires. The event is free and open to the public and will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  in the UMF Olsen Student Center.

The event features:

Employer’s Panel Discussion
Featuring outdoor recreation leader insights on how to prepare to be successful in the industry
11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Networking Reception
Informal reception to connect individuals with internships and build strong relationships with employers across many sectors
12:30–2 p.m.

The day’s events emphasize engagement with Maine-based organizations, highlighting UMF’s role in supporting local workforce development and the state’s outdoor recreation economy. Individuals will have the opportunity to explore career pathways, build professional connections, and engage directly with employers who are shaping Maine’s working landscape — from the mountains to the coast. Employers gain access to emerging talent eager to contribute skills, creativity, and energy to businesses and organizations across the region.

Employers come from various corners across Maine’s outdoor recreation industry economy, including: Maine Huts & Trails, UMaine 4-H Learning Centers, Megantic Fish & Game Corporation, Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment, Alfond Youth and Community Center, the Maine Office of Outdoor Recreation and more. The Summit to Shore Career Fest reflects UMF’s commitment to experiential learning, community partnership, and strengthening Maine’s future workforce by connecting education with employment.
