Amid snow flurries early Wednesday morning, first responders battled a fire at a two-story house on Ginn Road in Presque Isle.

A call reporting the fire came in at 3:44 a.m., Presque Isle fire Capt. Kyle Bartley told a reporter on scene. The fire left a substantial portion of the second story of the house blackened and charred.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office, Bartley said.  Presque Isle fire crews remained at the scene shortly before 10 a.m.

It’s unclear if there were any injuries or how many people the fire displaced. The Red Cross was on-site, a reporter saw.

The Caribou, Easton and Mapleton/Castle Hill/Chapman fire departments provided mutual aid.
