The 17 workers, (likely here on H2-A visas), detained on Tuesday in Skowhegan demonstrate that we still have Border Patrol detaining people without cause. The over-the-top drama and unnecessary disruption is still terrorizing people in spite of Sen. Susan Collins’s assurances that the surge is over. Evidently she is still willing to believe whatever the Republican Party tells her.
Now they will add these 17 individuals to their “Catch of the Day,” but probably later on enact “catch and release,” as they find they were here legally. Most likely the “release” will occur somewhere far enough away that it will require further fear, inconvenience, and expense to get them back.
I certainly hope that Collins isn’t going to continue voting to give these thugs still more of our money.
