The Fort Kent and Mattanawcook Academy boys basketball teams are incapable of playing a boring game against each other.

The Warriors and Lynx played two incredibly close games during the regular season, with Fort Kent winning the first matchup 70-69 on Jan. 2 and Mattanawcook of Lincoln taking the second 65-63 on Jan. 31.

The two teams met again in Thursday’s Class C North semifinal, and the result was yet another classic.

Despite heading into halftime down four points, the Warriors from Fort Kent leaned on timely 3-point shooting and their nearly-unstoppable junior leader Aden Jeffers to pull off an unlikely comeback victory.

Jeffers poured in 23 points, 11 of them in the fourth quarter, and Fort Kent won 70-61.

Fort Kent’s Mason Pelletier added 20 points, including five 3-pointers for the Warriors.

The win capped a wild second half that saw the two teams trade leads back and forth, with Fort Kent eventually earning the win with timely shooting and swarming defense.
