A pilot escaped injury Friday after their aircraft flipped during an emergency landing.

It happened around 4:40 p.m. on Thompson Lake in Otisfield, according to Oxford County officials.

They said the pilot tried to land the plane on the lake because of mechanical issues, but then it flipped forward when the wheels hit the snow-covered lake.

The pilot was the only person on board and they walked away from the incident, officials said.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
