PORTLAND — Since 1984 EqualityMaine has created and advanced an inclusive movement to protect and promote full equality for LGBTQ+ Mainers. Through political action, community building, education, engagement and collaboration, the organization fosters stronger communities and provides workshops and safe spaces for connection and growth. The programming is designed for people of all ages, from the New Leaders Project Summer Camp to the Network for Older Adults.

The mission and meaning inspired Norway Savings Bank to recently donate $5,000 to the organization, continuing its longtime support of EqualityMaine.

“It’s beautiful to see the work of EqualityMaine lead to the impact it has had over the years,” said Dan Walsh, president and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “As the connections grow, the isolation experienced by many individuals in Maine lessens. We’re grateful for their work in providing a safer, more inclusive place for all Mainers.”

“Norway Savings Bank’s support shows their commitment to keeping EqualityMaine strong as we continue our work to ensure all LGBTQ+ Mainers can live free from hate and discrimination, especially the most vulnerable among us,” said Gia Drew, executive director of EqualityMaine. “Contributions like this enable our work to create safer and more inclusive communities to continue, and we’re so thankful.”
