A small fire broke out at the Super 8 motel in Bangor on Wednesday afternoon.

Construction crews were working in a room on the first floor of the motel at 462 Odlin Road when a fire started inside the walls, Bangor Fire Assistant Chief Chandler Corriveau said.

The fire set off smoke alarms and the motel called the fire department. Firefighters had it under control quickly, Corriveau said.

Two rooms on the first floor and one on the second received varying levels of damage, he said. Only one room was occupied and that person should be able to move to another room in the motel.

Firefighters had to briefly run hose lines across Odlin Road, which blocked traffic, but they were able to disconnect the lines shortly after and allow traffic to flow again, Corriveau said.
