A shooting near Sugarloaf on Sunday night left a Connecticut woman dead.
Austin Doucette, 24, of Carrabassett Valley has been charged with murder in the death of 23-year-old Makayla Rose Desantis of Colchester, Connecticut, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Doucette allegedly shot Desantis about 7:30 p.m. at a Left Bank residence in Carrabassett Valley. Desantis was taken to MaineHealth Franklin Hospital in Farmington before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Doucette was arrested Monday evening.
The shooting remains under investigation.
