The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three fishermen off the coast of Boothbay Harbor on Wednesday morning.

Just after 7 a.m., the Coast Guard got a mayday call from the crew, who told them their 40-foot vessel was sinking more than 20 miles south of Boothbay Harbor.

The Coast Guard responded and found the vessel about two hours later.

It’s unclear how long the three people had been in the water, but the Coast Guard said the three people did not have life jackets and there were no life rafts onboard.

One person contracted hypothermia.

The other two were not injured.
