An ice jam is raising flood risk on the Piscataquis River.

The ice jam happened on the river in Maxfield on Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

It’s already caused flooding on North Howland Road, and further flooding is possible along Maxfield Road.

The weather service warned that flooding is “imminent” — if not already occurring — in Maxfield, Medford, Enfield and Howland.

A flood warning remains in place until 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
