The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office on Friday arrested a Bangor man for allegedly sexually exploiting a minor.

The arrest stemmed from a Feb. 26 complaint against Shawn Fleming, 19, of Bangor, “involving the sexual exploitation of a minor victim,” the sheriff’s office said.

An investigation “revealed additional victims and serious child sexual exploitation offenses that had taken place over several years, the sheriff’s office said.

Fleming is charged with five counts of gross sexual assault, a Class A felony; unlawful sexual contact, a Class C felony; 10 counts of visual sexual aggression against a child, a Class C felony; and solicitation of a child to commit a prohibited act, a Class C felony.

He is being held at Penobscot County Jail.

Ethan Andrews is the night editor. He was formerly the managing editor at The Free Press and worked as a reporter for The Republican Journal and Pen Bay Pilot.
