Like many of her admirers, I was very disappointed by Elizabeth Warren’s support of Graham Platner.

Her acceptance of his apology for gross sexist remarks comes too easily, in my view. At a time when contempt for women has risen greatly in the past year, even dated comments against us make me wonder.

Janet Mills, the first woman attorney general in Maine and the first governor, survived discrimination through impressive competence and thereby proved that women deserve high office.

In 10 years, Platner may well be a notable Maine figure. Not now.
