BELFAST — Midcoast favorites Elsie Gawler and Ethan Stokes Tischler will perform at the Underground Lounge in Belfast on Thursday, April 2. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m.
Gawler and Tischler are New England songwriters and instrumentalists whose music draws from traditional and contemporary folk influences. Their performances weave together original songs and tunes with musical traditions from New England, Québec, Celtic and Scandinavian sources, highlighting their shared love of melody, storytelling and place.
A musician rooted in Maine’s traditional folk culture, Gawler has performed throughout the region with the Gawler Family Band and the Gawler Sisters. She is also a songwriter and bandleader whose debut album “Sweet As Honey” features original songs inspired by community and the natural world.
Stokes Tischler is a Maine-based musician and educator originally from Vermont’s Champlain Valley. Performing primarily on acoustic guitar and vocals, he also plays fiddle, banjo and electric guitar, bringing a thoughtful approach to songwriting and arrangement.
Since forming their duo in 2019, Gawler and Tischler have developed a warm, collaborative sound that blends original music with traditional influences.
The Underground Lounge concert offers an intimate listening experience in the heart of Belfast. Admission is $10–$20 (cash only) at the door. Food and beverages will be available by donation.
