A fire that heavily damaged a Jonesboro home on Thursday afternoon was probably caused by a pellet stove, the state fire marshal’s office said.

The blaze at 755 Route 1 was reported at about 3:48 p.m. No one was home at the time.

Investigators from the fire marshal’s office visited the site on Friday and determined that the fire “originated beneath the pellet stove vent,” the office said.

The fire was ruled accidental.
