Police seized fentanyl and methamphetamine during a Thursday raid of a Danforth home.
Rian Moore, 39, of Danforth was charged with aggravated drug trafficking, drug trafficking, eluding an officer, operating after revocation and criminal speeding, while Courtney Stoddard, 26, of Danforth was charged with aggravated drug trafficking and drug trafficking, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Their arrests came after an investigation into drug trafficking in Danforth.
On Thursday, police surveilled Moore’s Central Street home, where they saw him leave about 9:50 a.m. in a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse and head north on Route 169, the MDEA said Friday morning.
But when police tried to pull him over, Moore allegedly fled, leading police on a chase across northern Washington County, eastern Penobscot County and southern Aroostook County, where the chase came to an end in Reed Plantation when Moore went off the road and into a ditch.
During the chase, Moore allegedly threw a bag of fentanyl out of the Traverse.
Police then raided the Central Street home, seizing 3.5 ounces of fentanyl and 5.2 ounces of meth and arresting Stoddard.
They were taken to the Washington County Jail in Machias.
At the time of his arrest, Moore was on probation for manslaughter in the 2022 hit-and-run death of 50-year-old Don Charette of Frenchville, whose motorcycle Moore hit on Springfield Road in Danforth. That crash also injured then-30-year-old Jesse Ouelette of St. Agatha, who was riding a motorcycle as well.
