George Jabar II was selected as Maine County Official of October in honor of his community service by Spirit of America Foundation’s Maine Chapter. Jabar has served over 25 years as a commissioner of Kennebec County.
He has been president of and held other positions in Maine County Commissioners Association, and he currently serves on the Board of Directors of National Association of Counties.
An attorney by profession, Jabar was appointed to the Maine State Board of Corrections and was a liaison to the Judiciary for the Maine Board of Corrections.
Jabar is active in the Boys’ and Girls’ Club and has served as chair of its Board of Directors. He also served as chair of the Board of Directors for the Maine Youth Alliance.
Jabar has played a role in Kennebec County Spirit of America events and been helpful to the cause of volunteerism in other ways over the years.
Maine Spirit of America is a chapter of Spirit of America Foundation, an organization promoting community service.
