More than 1,000 attendees expected for a free Halloween celebration featuring local businesses, food trucks, entertainment and an opportunity to give back.

BANGOR – The Mid Mall business community is gearing up for one of the area’s  anticipated Halloween celebrations! The 3rd Annual Mid Mall Trunk or Treat will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23 in the Mid Mall area of Bangor, bringing together dozens of local  businesses and organizations for an evening of Halloween fun, community connection and charitable giving.

With more than 1,000 attendees anticipated, the event promises an exciting evening for families, featuring  creatively decorated trunks, plenty of candy, food trucks, music, entertainment and activities for children of  all ages.

Organized through the efforts of FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers and neighboring Mid Mall businesses,  the event has continued to grow, attracting participation from businesses and community organizations throughout the Greater Bangor region.

“What started as an opportunity for neighboring businesses to come together and do something fun for  local families has really grown into something special,” Benjamin Smith, director of HR & Marketing for  FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers and event organizer, said. “One of my favorite things about this event is seeing businesses that might otherwise never cross paths come together for a common purpose. Everyone puts their own creative spin on their trunk, the kids have an absolute blast and we get to create a fun, safe and memorable evening for families in our community. We’re expecting our biggest turnout yet, and I couldn’t be more excited!”

This year’s event will also shine a spotlight on Sarah’s House, a local nonprofit organization that provides temporary lodging and a supportive home-away-from-home environment for cancer patients and their caregivers who must travel to the Bangor area for treatment.

Representatives from Sarah’s House will be on-site collecting much-needed items from the organization’s wish list. Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation to help support the important work Sarah’s House  does for individuals and families navigating cancer treatment.

In addition, Darling’s Ice Cream Truck for a Cause will be participating, helping raise funds for Sarah’s House while serving up sweet treats during the festivities.

“We wanted this event to be about more than just candy and costumes,” Smith added. “Sarah’s House does incredible work for people during some of the most challenging times in their lives. Being able to introduce  more families to their mission, collect needed supplies and help support their work adds a whole other level of meaning to this event. It’s a great example of what can happen when our business community comes  together.”

In addition to dozens of decorated trunks and candy stations, attendees can look forward to: Free balloon creations from Rea’s Balloon Creations.

Music and entertainment from an on-site DJ.

Children’s activities with the help of the John Bapst Key Club student volunteers.

Food and refreshments available for purchase from Brick & Embers Pizza, Del’s Lemonade, The Spud Bus, Rizza’s Kitchen, Brush & Batter Bakery and Darling’s Ice Cream Truck.

Creative Halloween displays and festive decorations throughout the event area.

Opportunities to connect with local businesses, nonprofits and community organizations.

Participating businesses and organizations represent a wide variety of industries, from healthcare and professional services to restaurants, real estate and community nonprofits.

The event is free and open to the public, and families are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite  Halloween costumes and bring a bag for collecting candy.
