A man has been charged with reckless conduct after allegedly setting off a commercial-grade firework in the middle of a residential Bangor street.

The explosion was reported on Wednesday in the vicinity of First Street, Bangor police said.

Based on an investigation, police believe Damien Larochelle, 23, transient, set off what they called an “altered commercial-grade firework.” He was charged with reckless conduct, Class D.

Bangor’s code of ordinances prohibits the use of fireworks without a permit from the city.
