A Portland man was rescued Sunday morning after he got stuck while climbing a granite cliff in New Hampshire.
The 30-year-old was climbing alone and unroped on the Sliding Board route up Whitehorse Ledge in Hale’s Location, a small township north of Conway, about 8 a.m. when he realized he could not climb any higher or climb back down, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
The climber, who was about 500 feet from the ground, managed to get to a secure spot and called for help, Fish and Game said Monday morning.
Nine climbers made their way up to him, fixing ropes from the ground up to the Portlander.
They brought him to the cliff’s base, which they reached about 10 a.m.
