Police are investigating a threat against a Passamaquoddy elementary school.
Principal Daniel Morang informed parents about the threat Monday, saying police were immediately informed after learning about a statement about “harming” Sipayik Elementary School.
In response to the threat, all school activities are being held inside, meaning there will be no outdoor recess, and Sipayik police will be stationed at the school, Morang said.
“Classes are proceeding as normal inside the building, and your children’s safety remains our highest priority,” Morang wrote.
Morang said that school officials can’t share more information publicly while the police investigation proceeds.
“We ask that you not speculate or share unverified information, especially on social media. Rumors can cause fear and harm,” Morang wrote.
Counselors and staff are available to help any student upset or worried about the situation.
