The ghost of Jacob Marley visited Scrooge in a dream, hoping to enlighten and save his old business partner from a similar fate, eternal damnation with his soul weighed down by a chain forged by greed, corruption, and immorality. My first wish is, in the event Jeffrey Epstein’s ghost is available, for him to make a similar appearance at Mar-a-Lago.

My hope for a Christmas miracle, that Donald Trump has an epiphany and changes his ways, is naive for a couple of reasons. First, Trump can’t sleep at night making my wish a non starter. Secondly, if he was visited by Epstein with a massive chain, Trump would probably argue that his own was bigger, thus missing the point.

Still, I am allowed to hope, which is one of the few constitutional guarantees left standing. I hope Epstein’s ghost scares the bejesus out of Trump and just like Scrooge, he hurriedly makes amends. I hope that overnight he develops a conscience, places others’ needs before his own, takes responsibility for his actions, tells the truth no matter the consequences, and treats others with respect. In other words, Trump stops being what I see as a narcissistic and mean-spirited jerk.
