A Rumford man allegedly used pepper spray on a woman and three kids over the weekend.
Donald Wilson, 41, has been charged with criminal use of disabling chemicals, assault and disorderly conduct, according to the Rumford Police Department.
Wilson, who was reportedly intoxicated, went to a Cumberland Street apartment in Rumford on Sunday evening in search of someone, but when those inside wouldn’t tell him how to find who he was looking for, Wilson allegedly used pepper spray.
The chemical affected two families, including a 35-year-old woman and 9-, 13- and 16-year-old children, Rumford police said Monday.
All four were taken to Rumford Hospital. First responders also checked an infant in a neighboring apartment as a precaution.
Wilson fled before police arrived, but officers found him a short time later on Lincoln Avenue, where he was arrested without incident.
He was taken to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris, where he was released on bail.
