University of Maine Cooperative Extension will host a webinar focused on identifying and managing weeds in greenhouse ornamental production from 6-7:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2.
“Effective Weed Management in Greenhouse Ornamentals” will be led by Manjot Sidhu, assistant Extension professor of horticulture and ornamental horticulture specialist at UMaine.
Weeds compete with ornamental crops for space, light and nutrients, ultimately reducing plant quality and overall productivity. In this webinar, participants will learn practical strategies for addressing these challenges, including how to recognize common greenhouse weeds, understand their biology and apply a range of control methods. Topics will cover cultural and mechanical practices, as well as key considerations for effective chemical control.
This session will offer growers actionable guidance to support healthier crops, more efficient production and long-term weed management success in greenhouse systems. Eligible for 1 Maine pesticide recertification credit.
The webinar is part of UMaine Extension’s Commercial Horticulture Webinar Series, held on the first Monday of each month.
