MILO — The Three Rivers Kiwanis 8-Ball Pool League has been playing for nine years. The league started at Pat’s Pizza in Milo then moved into the Kiwanis Building at 15 Harris Pond Road. The league quickly outgrew that space and through the generous donation of Tom and Nancy Harrigan the current pool room became a reality.
Housing eight pool tables, the league has grown every year. The new spring league has over 80 members playing either Monday or Tuesday evening. Scotch doubles are offered on the first and third Wednesday of the month starting at 4:45 p.m. Anyone is welcome to join in, whether novice or highly skilled. Players with higher handicaps are teamed up with lower handicap players and play in either a double or triple elimination tournament.
All the money raised by the pool league, scotch doubles, food and soda goes to Three Rivers Kiwanis for children, family or community programs and needs.
Each session the pool league offers two $500 donations. One going to the session points winner and the other going to the session champions. This past session the team with the highest points was Mike Russell’s team. They chose to give their $500 donation to American Legion Post #41 in Milo. The session champions were Steve Heath’s team and they chose to give their $500 donation to the BearCats after-school program in SAD 41.
For more information on joining the league or playing scotch doubles contact Mike Russell at 207-717-7097 or Claude Marquis at 207-650-2424.

BEARCATS CONTRIBUTION — Dawn McLaughlin accepts a $500 donation for the BearCats after-school program from Three Rivers Kiwanis President Joe Duarte, with funds coming from the Kiwanis’ 8-Ball Pool League.
