Free family event showcases local businesses, student leadership and community resources

HAMPDEN — The RSU 22 Education Foundation will host its 2026 Community Expo & Kids Carnival on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hampden Academy, 89 Western Ave. The public is invited to attend this free, family-friendly event celebrating local business, student engagement, wellness and community collaboration.

The Community Expo brings together local vendors, nonprofits, student groups and wellness partners for a day filled with activities, resources and connections. Attendees can explore exhibits highlighting regional services and offerings, enjoy interactive displays and participate in fun activities for all ages.

A signature feature of the event is the Kids Carnival, designed and operated by RSU22 students and community organizations. The carnival offers engaging games and activities that build leadership and teamwork, with proceeds supporting student organizations and the Foundation’s mission.

There will also be a Community Business Expo, showcasing local businesses and organizations offering services, products, and resources — a valuable opportunity for networking, community engagement, and local discovery.  Over 35 businesses and nonprofits will attend offering food, handmade goods, health-related services, financial services and home & office services.

The event also includes a dedicated Wellness Area, featuring health and safety resources. Attendees can access CPR and Stop the Bleed training (pre-registration encouraged), family wellness information and other community support services.

Proceeds from the Community Expo & Kids Carnival go toward the Foundation’s annual Teacher Mini Grant Program, which funds innovative classroom projects across the RSU22 School District serving students from Frankfort, Hampden, Newburgh and Winterport.

“At the RSU 22 Foundation, many of us are parents or relatives of kids in our schools.  I have two children in the RSU School District schools. Our Community Expo is more than a celebration — it’s a way to bring together families, students, and local businesses in support of public education and community well-being,” said Chris Linder, volunteer board member of the RSU22 Education Foundation.
