Here we go again — killing thousands of innocent civilians in a far-off part of the world and flinging our young men and women who volunteered to serve their country into an unnecessary and unjust war to stroke the egos and flaunt the machismo of President Donald Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and presidential advisor Stephen Miller and to distract from the increasingly damning Epstein files. I believe we are at a tipping point in our young republic, teetering on the edge of authoritarian rule under the unhinged, criminal, and greed-driven Trump administration.

To quote the novelist and Marine Corp veteran of the Iraq War Phil Klay, who wrote recently in the New York Times: “Power does not grow out of the barrel of a gun, cruelty is not the same as strength, and a politics built on such ideas promises ruin, delusion about the limits of our power and a betrayal of the promise of our founding.”
