The Democratic primary race for Susan Collins’ U.S. Senate seat was dominated by Janet Mills and Graham Platner, but let’s not forget David Costello. Costello has been through this before as our Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2024 against Angus King.

Costello was born in Bangor and raised in Old Town by his mother and mill-working grandparents. He was the first in his family to attend a four-year college and to earn a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree.

He served for more than 30 years in senior-level government and non-government positions, both in the United States and abroad — implementing and managing; not simply legislating or talking about complex multi-million-dollar programs and operations. He held positions in the states of Maine and Maryland and gained international experience working for USAID.

Considering his age (65) and experience, I think Costello is a Senate candidate worthy of your consideration in the upcoming primary election, and ranked-choice voting ensures that you won’t have to hedge your decision in casting your vote for the best candidate.

Vote for David Costello as your first choice for Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate.
