A man from the town of China will serve 30 months in prison after he uploaded child sex abuse material to a messaging app.
U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neumann on Tuesday handed down the sentence against 54-year-old Jeffrey Furlong in U.S. District Court in Bangor, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Furlong pleaded guilty to accessing child pornography with intent to view on Sept. 5, 2025.
The investigation into Furlong began in June 2024 after the Maine State Police received a tip that Furlong had uploaded multiple videos of child sex abuse material to Kik, a free instant messaging app.
When police searched his home that October, Furlong admitted to investigators that he had obtained images and videos of children being sexually abused. A search of his Kik account revealed child sex abuse material and that Furlong had expressed sexual interest in children as young as 6 years old, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
